Opinion: The HYPO-CRATES - President Mahama got a gun himself, even with all the security around him. But the NDC got a problem, with Nana Addo's security, protecting the house (with guns?), after NDC foot-soldiers intentionally throwing stones and other heavy stuff into his house after the 2012 elections, stoning him at a rally and again at their recent violent attack at Nana Addo's residence. What security would it be, if their only weapons were fork & knife?
“Why are they having guns in his house?” Ade Coker asked in an interview with the media in connection with gunshots fired by men claimed to be among the security detail of Nana Akufo-Addo on Sunday when supporters of the NPP clashed with supporters of the NDC.
The clashes occurred as the supporters of the two parties embarked on their respective Keep Fit activities near the Nima Junction.
Class FM’s Nii O T Ankrah reported that the skirmishes happened as members of the NDC, who were on a walk as part of the party’s campaign activities, waited for their other colleagues to join them in front of the Nima residence of the NPP flag bearer amidst taunting gestures, chanting of their party songs, and throwing of stones into Mr Akufo-Addo’s residence.
A struggle ensued between the two parties culminating in warning shots being fired into the air. Officers from the Nima Police Command, however, intervened to calm nerves and asked the NDC supporters to depart.
Meanwhile, the Nima Police Command is investigating the situation.
