Source GhanaOrbit - With barely three months to the December polls, there are indications that the NPP is mired in confusion and fear with some executives desperately panicking following polls indicating a resilient NDC victory in the 2016 presidential polls.
Many polls including one conducted by a US based Agency places President Mahama in an unassailable lead over Nana Addo in the December polls and there are indications that the NPP has also conducted internal polls that suggest that the party may lose the December presidential polls.

Many party activists are worried that NDC will sweep home another convincing victory in this year’s polls and leave the NPP in political wilderness for another four years.

Many party insiders say the divisions in the party will wreck havoc for the leading opposition party as the party remains inactive with no well planned campaign strategy.

Some political analsysts suggest that the reason why the NPP kicked against the November date for the election was because their internal polls indicate that Nana Addo will lose hence there was the expectation that if the election delayed, things could get worse for the government, particularly with the energy crisis and that could help revive the fortunes of the NPP flag bearer.

However, the seeming resolution of the energy crisis seems to have dealt a serious blow to one of the anchors of the NPP Campaign message.

“There was the expectation that the energy crisis will helped the fortunes of the NPP but it seems to have been resolved and that may boost the chances of the NDC in the coming election,” one political expert stated.
He said the litigation over the suspension of party executives in court will also adversely affect the fortunes of the party.

“I am really surprised that the NPP does not realize that their inability to present a united front and the perception that the flag bearer is dictatorial is affecting their electoral fortunes. This is not rocket science. If they are very keen about victory, that is the first thing they should address,” he stated.

He said the party had very little time to send a strong message to Ghanaians about their preparedness noting that nothing was “really happening” in terms of campaign by the NPP.

“The NDC seems better organized, united and more poised for victory. The NPP is still disorganized and their message is failing. Politics thrives a lot on a perception and the perception out there does not favour the NPP at all,” he stated.
