Anas urges media to play watch dog role

Source: GNA- Anas Aremeyaw Anas, an ace investigative journalist, has called on the media to play its role as the fourth estate of the realm, by acting as a watch dog to the other arms of government.

'We should not just say we are the fourth realm without putting our role into practice,' he said at the fifth lecture series of Central University, Miotso campus. It was on the theme: 'Communication for Development.'

Desperate Mahama to reduce fuel prices soon – Akufo-Addo

Source: myjoyonline. com - The 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party is claiming that in the coming days, and in a desperation to hang onto power, President John Dramani Mahama will announce a reduction in the prices of petroleum products.

“We’re being told that very soon, they are going to reduce the petroleum (energy sector) levy (on the price buildup of petroleum prices). We, in the NPP, have been calling for a reduction in the levy to bring relief to the people. But, they (Mahama government) said no. Once again, with the election around the corner, he is likely to do that (reduce the prices)”, the NPP flagbearer said.

1. NPP cannot be complacent about the Elections because of crowds at their Rallies. We had almost the same exciting crowds in 2008 and 2012

2 Leaders must not say they will win because it can breed false hope and create laxity among their followers to work hard

3. Celebrities don't win Elections as we saw in Clinton's campaign and our own 2008 Campaign. It's crept back in as we saw in Bukom. yesterday, where entertainers took over the platform for a long while. It's all nice but the people want to be convinced than sloganeering.
