The Ashanti regional Minister was defeated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) Kwaku Agyeman Kwarteng.
He bemoaned attempts by the leadership of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the region to rig the elections in favour of their candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
According to him, their candidate President John Mahama won the presidential votes in the constituency and parts of the region but results have been overturned through dubious means.
He said they will petition the headquarters of the Electoral Commission (EC) to rectify the situation adding that the figures do not tally that of the pink sheets given.
Mr Ackon who failed to mention the collation centers in which over voting occurred said they will not allow the NPP to rig the elections.
‘We won the presidential votes in the constituency, but there has been over voting that is why the NPP is claiming they have won the presidential votes, we will not accept the results,’ he said.
The Minister indicated that defeat is staring in the face of the NPP hence their numerous complaints through their press conferences.
He lashed out the NPP for declaring elections when they knew it could trigger violence calling on their supporters to keep calm as they wait for the EC to declare the results.
The NDC has lost two out of its four seats in the region.
