Source: Daily Graphic Ghana - The 2016 Campaign Manager of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Peter Mac Manu, has dismissed lists circulating on social media regarding certain names that have been selected for ministerial positions under the government of the President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
He said when it came to ministerial appointments, the buck stopped with the President-elect and he would not be coerced into making any premature appointments or announcements.

Addressing the press at the end of a meeting between the National Executive Council (NEC) of the party and the President-elect and his vice, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, in Accra yesterday, Mr Mac Manu said Nana Akufo-Addo had maintained that he would undertake exhaustive consultation with a number of stakeholders before making any appointments.

No ministerial list

Prior to the meeting, there had been speculations that the NEC was going to provide a list of persons for ministerial appointments to Nana Akufo-Addo, but Mr Mac Manu said nothing like that happened.

The Minority Leader in Parliament, Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, said the meeting was geared at sensitising the leadership of the party to steps to take as the party prepared to take over the administration of the country on January 7, 2017.

He also said there was a review of the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Appreciation of support

Mr Yaw Osafo-Maafo, head of the NPP’s side of the transition team, gave a situation report on the work of the transition team and said although there had been some hiccups, he was hopeful that they could be resolved.

A member of the NPP campaign team, Professor Mike Oquaye, said Nana Akufo-Addo paid glowing tribute to the NEC of the party for the crucial role the members played and the support they provided for the success of the elections.

The Youth Organiser of the NPP, Mr Sammy Awuku, said the leadership of the party was determined to provide the needed services that would place the country on the path of progress and prosperity.

Already, he said, Ghanaians had been buoyed by the electoral victory of the NPP and were experiencing changes in their business operations, even before the new government took office.
