The presentation, which was earlier scheduled for Thursday, December 22, 2016, will be the President Mahama’s final address to Parliament before he leaves office.
Majority Chief Whip and a member of Parliament's Business Committee, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, explains parliament is hoping to clear outstanding business before the House before legislators went on break.

“Before we went on the break for the election there were a number of bills outstanding. Prominent among them is the right to information bill.

"So my understanding is that at the business committee we scheduled the businesses that were outstanding to try as much as possible to finish them,” he told Joy News’ Correspondent, Elton John Brobbey.

The outgoing president’s presentation will focus on the state of the nation after his four-year term.

His attempt for a second term in office was botched in an election defeat to the opposition leader Nana Akufo-Addo last week Wednesday, December 7, 2016. President Mahama's address will be in fulfilment of Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution.

He is expected to provide details of projects his government is executing and highlight some of his achievements as president.

His presentation would also herald the end of the life of the sixth Parliament of the fourth republic which would officially terminate on the 6th of January 2017.
