Source: Daily Graphic Ghana - The National Chairman and leader of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Prof. Edmund Delle, has underscored the need for inclusiveness in governance.

According to the CPP leader, it was time to stop exclusiveness from governance if the country was to increase the pace of development and progress.
Speaking to the Daily Graphic moments after the Electoral Commission had declared Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo President- elect of the country last Friday, Prof. Delle indicated, “Ghana is above everybody and it is time all hands get on deck to develop the nation.”
Calm and unity

The national chairman and leader of the CPP further underscored the need for calm and unity in the country, once the 2016 general and presidential elections were over.

He called on Ghanaians to support the newly elected President, saying: “We must support whoever wins. Whatever happens, whoever wins must be supported and given all the needed support.”

In the view of Prof. Delle, it was only a fool who would like to destroy Ghana for political power.

He said Ghana was a nation of peace and every Ghanaian had a sacred duty to work to keep it intact.

People have spoken

On the outcome of the 2016 election, the CPP leader reasoned that the people had spoken but cautioned that they could also change their verdict at the next election or anytime.

“You can win public elections today but lose it tomorrow,” he cautioned and, therefore, advised political leaders to realise that, “if you lose an election today, that is not the end of the world because you can also win it tomorrow.”

He, therefore, tasked losing politicians in the 2016 election to remain calm, saying, “their day will definitely come no matter how long.”

Nation of peace

The CPP national chairman pointed out that after the election “we have a nation to develop.”

He called on Ghanaians to support whoever emerged the winner in this year’s election.

“I am, therefore, calling on all Ghanaians, particularly members of the CPP, to be very calm and move on with their lives,” he added.

EC Commended

He also commended the election management body, the Electoral Commission (EC), for organising a peaceful 2016 election.

He again called on Ghanaians to allow the country’s institutions of governance to work.

“I am proud of the good image of Ghana as a bastion of democracy and we must all keep it as such,” he stated.

Loyalty

On what the CPP was going to do toward election 2020, he disclosed that his loyalty had always been the CPP and the party would evaluate the 2016 election campaign to find out its strengths and shortfalls to make amends in future.

He further indicated that it was time to reorganise the CPP to make it more attractive to the electorate and the general citizenry.
