Source: adomonline. com - The Eastern Regional Chief Imam Alhaji Usif Amudani Suleman has described a statement issued by the NDC Zongo Caucus against NPP Running Mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as false and vile propaganda.
The statement issued by the NDC group on Sunday suggested that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia attempted to mar the Friday Prayers at the Koforidua Central Mosque and was prevented from speaking.
The NDC group, Zongo caucus, alleged that Dr. Bawumia on Friday afternoon at the Koforidua central mosque wanted to turn the mosque into a campaign platform and even attempted to speak before the Khutba was read by the Chief Imam.

But speaking to Adom FM's Maxwell Kudekor, the Eastern Regional Chief Imam Alhaji Usif Amudani described as totally false the claims made by the zongo caucus and stated that at no point did Dr. Bawumia attempt to mar the Friday Prayers or attempt to do politics in the Mosque.

The Chief Imam debunking the lie that Dr. Bawumia attempted speaking before the Khutba was read said he (the Chief Imam) entered the mosque with Dr. Mahmud Bawumia, read the Khutba and finished with all he needed to do before he personally invited Dr. Bawumia to speak.

According to Alhaji Usif Amudani, the NPP running mate did not come to the mosque to do politics nor disrespect the Islamic religion but conducted himself properly like all true Muslims would do and was amazed that any group could create such absolute falsehoods against the NPP Running Mate and a fellow Muslim.
The Regional Chief Imam said Dr. Bawumia came to Koforidua on the invitation of Sheikh Ishak Fafana to honour a MAULID (birthday celebration of the founder of the Tijaniya Muslim sect) and that as part of the program, they prayed together on Friday afternoon.

On the fabrication that Dr. Bawumia attempted doing politics in the Mosque, the Regional Chief Imam was even more surprised at such outright lies. He noted that under no circumstances did Dr. Bawumia use the opportunity to disregard the Holy Quran or breach any Islamic protocol at the mosque.

'I personally called him after I read the Khutba and the prayers, I gave him five minutes to speak and he spent less than five minutes speaking. He only advised Ghanaian youth not to allow themselves to be used to perpetuate violence in this year elections and also told parents to invest in their children’s education', Alhaji Usif Amudani Sulemam noted.

The worried chief Imam called on the zongo caucus and any others perpetuating such acts to desist from allegations or falsehood that is calculated to bring the name and image of Islam and the Central Mosque into disrepute, noting that Islam is against such fabrications.
