Kobby Akyeampong, as he is popularly known, stood on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to contest the 2016 elections. But results announced by the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) sees the former National Coordinator for the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA) lose by 3,166 votes. He polled 16,309 votes, which were not enough to beat the 19,475 votes polled by New Patriotic Party’s Barbara Asher Ayisi. Progressive People’s Party’s Sarah Mary Bucknor came behind NDC’s candidate with 3,251 votes. |
With 88 votes, Convention People’s Party’s Peter Kwegyir Aggrey placed fourth.
Meanwhile, the Central Region Minister, Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, won the Cape Coast South Constituency by less than 1,000 votes in one of the skirt-and-blouse votes.
