NDC has winning track record — MP

Source: Daily Graphic Ghana - The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Nkwanta-North Constituency, Mr John Oti Kwabena Bless, has said that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has an enviable track record that it can hold on to win the 2016 elections.
“However, we need to go to every household, village, town, and every part of the country to let people know what we stand for and why President John Mahama and the NDC deserve a second term,” he said.

The legislator stated this at the official launch of the “Konkomba Youth for Mahama,” a youth group sympathetic to the NDC, at the Odododiodoo Constituency in Accra last week Sunday.

The launch of the youth group formed part of a strategy to mobilise the youth to take the NDCs campaign message to all parts of the country.

The event also brought together other groups such as “Doves for Mahama,” “I Care for You,” and some representatives of other groups across the country.

Voter education

The MP also urged members of the NDC to intensify voter education to reduce the number of spoilt ballots at its strongholds in the 2016 polls.

He, therefore, urged supporters of the party to avoid complacency and voter apathy which could cause the party valuable votes.

“We need the numbers to be assured of victory in the November polls,” he stated.

Mr Bless urged NDC groups to be vigilant and monitor all processes of the Electoral Commission (EC), including the transfer of votes to their preferred constituencies.

He also urged them to be circumspect in their utterances as they moved around the country with the campaign message.

Work hard for victory

For his part, a Presidential Staffer, Mr Roland Mbui, observed that the party had put in place measures that would transform the economy and that it was important to work hard to win the 2016 polls to continue the development agenda.

“As a party, we believe that hard work is what will give us convincing victory. We cannot leave anything to chance,” he said.

He said the NDC is the only political party that has the masses and people from all walks of life at heart in terms of the distribution of the national cake.

Be diligent

Other speakers at the event also urged the youth to be wary of political parties and politicians who would want to use them to disrupt the peace the country currently enjoys.

They advised the youth to work for the party at all stages of the electoral process, especially on the day of the election.

They include the Deputy National Organiser of the party, Alhaji Madi Jibril, the Northern Regional Vice Chairman of the Party, Mr Joseph Amuzu, Northern Regional Organiser, Alhaji Mohammed Aminu Abiu, and a former Minister of State at the Presidency, Mr Kojo Tawiah Likpalmor.

The President of the youth group, Mr Believer Mumuni Likpalmor, said it was the target of the group to go to all remote areas of the country to canvass for votes.

He called on the party leadership to support the group with the required resources to facilitate its operation.
