Source: Starr FM Ghana - The opposition New Patriotic Party is today, Saturday December 19, outdooring its campaign team for the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections.
The ceremony which is taking place in Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo region is expected to be graced by all the big shots in the Danqua-Busia-Dombo tradition including its presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo and former president John Kufuor.
According to a deputy general secretary of the party Nana Obiri Boahene, the campaign is led by a former chairperson of the party Peter Mac Manu, who will play the role of campaign manager. Others include, Okere MP Dan Botwe, business magnate Ken Ofori-Atta, acting general secretary John Boadu and all regional chairmen of the party.
Today’s event sets the party battle-ready for the 2016 elections as its three-time presidential candidate comes against the ruling NDC’s John Mahama.
It is unclear if other major decisions will be taken at today’s congress but rumours say members are expecting the leadership to act to streamline certain recent appointments in the party.
The party has in recent times been afflicted with a protracted internal wrangling which has seen the suspension of its national chairman and general secretary.
