Source: kasapafmonline. com - The National Youth Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has served notice that the party will no more exercise restraint when its Flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, is unjustifiably attacked in the run-up to the 2016 elections.
According to him, Nana Akufo-Addo who is the most consistently attacked politician in Ghana’s recent political history has suffered too much vilification in silence, adding that going forward the NPP will be constrained to respond in disproportionate measure whenever its three-time Presidential Candidate is attacked.
Sammy Awuku’s comment comes on the back of the recent attack on Nana Akufo-Addo by former member of the Council of State and business mogul, Alhaji Asoma Banda, who while speaking on TV3’s Hot Issues show, stated that the NPP Presidential candidate will never get the nod of Ghanaians to be President of the country.
“The truth is he [Nana Akufo-Addo] can never be president… You see, to be a President, you must have certain structure, intelligence.” He explained that for someone to become President, the person must have both wisdom and intelligence, adding “you see, people take certificates in university to be intelligent, No! You must have wisdom.”
But speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo show, Sammy Awuku questioned Alhaji Asuma Banda’s basis for his assessment of Nana Akufo-Addo.
“How can you say this about Nana Akufo-Addo who is one of the most cited legal luminaries in Ghana’s Law Reports and also a shrewd businessman? Are you saying such a person does not have the intellectual capacity to lead this country.
If Alhaji wants to do politics, he is invited and if he wants to do business he should; we’ll address him as our fellow politician. Is Alhaji not the owner of Antrak Airline, I don’t even remember the last time I saw any of his few aeroplanes flying. He should think about his business."
He added: “From 2016, for any attack, innuendo on Nana Akufo Addo, there will be a disproportionate response from the youth wing of the party. Nana has been quiet for too long. This time around we’ll not ask permission from him before we respond lest he tells us not to. We’ll not allow someone like Asuma Banda who has done business and gotten money to use our cherished Presidential candidate as cannon fodder.
The youth are really facing lot’s of difficulties under this government and are desperately looking for jobs. They must be liberated from this hardship by voting out the Mahama-led administration.”
