Source: Daily Guide Africa - The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has expressed deep-seated reservations about the attitude of government and its assigns in the handling of the arrest, detention and subsequent deportation of the three South African security experts brought into the country by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The founder of Ghana’s first private radio station, Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby, says the National Communication Authority (NCA), has breached the 1992 Constitution for taking nine TV channels off-air.

The NCA has explained that it took off the channels for breaching its regulations. But Dr. Wereko-Brobby in an interview on the Citi Breakfast Show argued that the NCA’s move is against Article 163 of the 1992 constitution.

A former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Joseph Nii Ayikoi Otoo, has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) did not breach any law by inviting the three former South African police officers into the country to train the security detail of Nana Akufo Addo and Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia. 

Some aggrieved workers of struggling Volta Star Textiles Limited recently staged a protest when President John Dramani Mahama visited the Volta region to inspect the Eastern Corridor road.

The workers held placards with inscriptions such as “Here is not Voters Region, But Volta region,” “When will Volta Star Textile Workers Be Paid, Mr. President,” and “Is Tongu not part of Ghana as you claim. Mr. President, why is it so,” among others.

Former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, has described as needless the controversy that surrounded the invitation of the three South African ex-servicemen to the country by the opposition New Patriotic Party.

According to her, there is nothing unusual about a party seeking to improve its internal security.
