Source: Daily Grapic Ghana - President John Dramani Mahama has declared that the track record of his government will enable the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to win the elections in 2016.
He, has therefore, asked the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to prepare for another defeat.
Massive crowds of cheering NDC members mobbed President John Dramani Mahama at a rally in Sunyani on Tuesday as he rounded off his two-day tour of the Brong Ahafo Region.

Many party supporters flocked to the Jubilee Park in the regional capital as the President spoke about the chances of his party in the next elections.

His mission basically was to encourage party members to participate fully in the November 7 NDC presidential and parliamentary primaries, but he would not complete that assignment without touching on the 2016 elections.

"We are winning the elections one touch," he told the excited crowd. The President said no machinations by the NPP would enable them to win the elections.

He said the government had kept faith with the people as manifested in the development projects spread across the country, and expressed the hope that Ghanaians would reward the NDC by retaining it in power.

He also was of the conviction that the Brong Ahafo Region would support the NDC again.
With the First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama, a native of the Brong Ahafo Region by his side, the President said, "I know my in-laws in this region will once again have faith in me."

President Mahama expressed concern about the pessimistic position of the NPP on some government policies and programmes. For instance, he said, the NPP maintained that there was no way the government could implement the Community Day SHS programme.

However, today, 123 of the projects had been awarded on contract with two of them already inaugurated, five others ready for inauguration and the rest at various stages of completion.

Stressing the importance of the upcoming party primaries, the President said although he was running unopposed for the flag bearer position, he wanted party members to endorse him overwhelmingly to prove to the NPP that the entire party was supporting him to lead them to another victory.

He also touched on the need for the NDC members to elect parliamentary candidates who would win their seats next year.

The General Secretary of the NDC, Mr Johnson Asiedu-Nketiah, asked the NPP to desist from the threats of violence to push through their agenda for a new voters register.
