Source: GNA - Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has called on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters in the Amenfi West Constituency to honour the memory of late John Gyetua by voting massively for the party to retain the seat.
He said Mr Gyetua, as a Member of Parliament (MP) worked tirelessly to bring development projects to the constituency.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur made the call at a rally at Asankragua when he introduced Mr Eric Afful the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for the upcoming by-elections slated for December 15, this year.
The impending by-elections became necessary following the death of Mr John Gyetua, MP for the area.
The by-election is being contested by four parliamentary candidates including National Democratic Congress, New Patriotic Party (NPP), the Progress People Party (PPP) and United Front Party (UFP).
Various speakers at the rally including Mr Bedie Ziden, Mr Yaw Boateng Gyan, Mr Solomon Nkansah and other NDC stalwarts from the different regions call for massive turnout by NDC supporters to ensure total victory for the party at the by-elections.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur earlier urged supporters of the Party at the rally to observe a minute of silence in memory of the departed MP for Amenfi West.
He said since the NDC is the government in power it was better for the people to vote for the party’s candidate who would be able to work with the President to continue with the developmental projects that the former MP initiated for the area.
Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minister on his part promised to ensure that the impending by-election in the Amenfi West Constituency was peaceful.
He said he would also not encourage NDC Party supporters to take the law into their own hands as was done by the NPP sometime ago when they had similar by-election in the Constituency.
He charged the party’s polling agents to be vigilant at the polling stations, saying it would be of no use for them to attend all the rallies only to relax on voting day for their opponent to take advantage of the situation.
Mr Aidoo also urged the supporters to turnout in their numbers and vote massively for the Party to increase the margin between NDC and NPP candidates in the by-election.
He called on the Party’s foot soldiers to go round and mobilize the people in the villages to vote massively during the by-election.
Mr Eric Afful, the NDC’s Parliamentary candidate on his part promised to continue all the developmental projects started by his predecessor if he should win the by-election.
He said so far as he is aware, the NPP are not the Amenfi West to contest the upcoming by- elections, but only there to test their pulse whether they could get some votes in the 2016 general election.
He therefore urged the Party supporters to vote massively to widen the difference from the 12,000 votes in the 2012 elections to 15,000 votes.
